To install a stretch ceiling, only two essential materials are required, but both play a critical role in ensuring the success of the installation. The first thing that captures attention when entering a room is the membrane, as it covers the entire ceiling surface. The quality of the membrane must be flawless, as it directly impacts the aesthetic and durability of the ceiling. Membranes are produced by large manufacturers, predominantly in the plastic and chemical industries. No installer or reseller manufactures the raw membrane material themselves.

The membrane is produced in factories and comes in rolls of varying widths—6.6 feet, 10.6 feet, or 16 feet (2 meters, 3.2 meters, or 5 meters). These rolls are sold to smaller companies, who then attach the final harpoon edge, a crucial step in preparing the membrane for installation. The harpoon system is essential, as each specific harpoon fits a corresponding rail, allowing the membrane to be securely installed within the track.

Since 1990, we have relied on the same trusted supplier in Europe for both the profiles and the harpooned membranes. This supplier is also a provider to some of the largest global sellers of stretch ceiling materials. Although we occasionally receive offers from other manufacturers, typically at significantly lower prices, we remain committed to quality. Unfortunately, poor-quality membranes do exist in the market, and they can be problematic. For instance, some people have had to leave their apartments temporarily due to the strong chemical odors from inferior membranes during installation, as the plastic smell becomes overwhelming. This underscores the importance of using high-quality materials. In all our years of experience, we have never encountered such complaints.
